MUMBAI: Cracking down on “dazzling lights” on vehicles, Mumbai Traffic Police penalised 1,194 motorists as part of a special drive recently. Fines up to Rs 7.5 lakh were issued in this drive between Aug 6 and 8.Police said flashing lights, LED bars, fancy or harsh headlights were used by some vehicles at night, which impacted the vision of other road users and could lead to serious crashes. The action was taken under provisions of Motor Vehicles Act and Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Rules.Police have warned that action will continue in future and motorists should use low-beam lights at night. New Delhi: In the wake of some biometric attendance systems being “deliberately” damaged, Delhi govt’s social welfare department has ordered installation of CCTV cameras at its offices to keep the devices under surveillance and identify those responsible. The decision was taken during a recent review meeting.An official said that they had been receiving complaints about the devices frequently becoming non-functional. During visits by service engineers to examine the faulty machines, water was found inside a number of them. Hyderabad: Telangana is set to open a new avenue for families to earn from tourism, with the state govt preparing to launch a dedicated homestay scheme that will allow homeowners to host tourists in their residences.The tourism department will soon invite applications from eligible homeowners across the state for registration and classification of homestays.
