Palanpur: The Aravali district police seized 169 cannabis plants weighing 86.3 kg and valued at Rs 43.1 lakh from a field in Galisemro village of Shamlaji taluka and arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with the case.Acting on the instructions of Gandhinagar Range DIG Virendra Singh Yadav and Aravali superintendent of police Manoharsinh Jadeja, the anti-narcotics wing and Special Operations Group (SOG) conducted raid to crack down on the illegal cultivation and sale of narcotic substances.The operation was carried out under the guidance of G R Sharma, in-charge police inspector of the anti-narcotics wing, along with SOG PSI A H Rathod. Police personnel, accompanied by govt witnesses, a forensic science laboratory (FSL) officer and a videographer, raided the field within the jurisdiction of Shamlaji police station.During the search, the team discovered 169 green cannabis plants growing amid maize and sorghum crops on land allegedly in the possession of the accused. An FSL officer examined the plants and confirmed that they were cannabis.The accused was identified as Anil Damor, a resident of Damor Faliya in Galisemro village. Shamlaji police registered an offence under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.31kg cannabis seized in KutchRajkot: The Kutch West Special Operations Group (SOG) seized more than 31kg of cannabis worth over Rs 15 lakh from a labour colony in Kandagara Mota village of Mundra taluka on Saturday. Two Bihar natives were allegedly storing the contraband for sale on the instructions of a third accused, who is currently absconding. Police seized the contraband from a room allegedly occupied by Vivekkumar Chauhan (24), and Sachin Kumar Chaudhary (21).According to the preliminary investigation, the duo had allegedly stored the cannabis without a valid licence or permit at the direction of Shivam alias Golu Chaudhary. Police suspect all three were involved in selling the contraband for financial gain.The SOG has launched a search for Shivam alias Golu Chaudhary. A case was registered against all three accused at Mundra police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.Chauhan hails from Siwan district, while Chaudhary is a native of Vaishali district in Bihar.
