Bhubaneswar: High commissioner of Canada to India, Christopher Cooter, on Thursday paid a courtesy call to deputy chief minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo here, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation with Odisha.Discussions covered agri-exports, technology collaboration and bilateral trade. Singh Deo highlighted Odisha’s leadership in mineral production, including holding 92% of India’s chromite reserves and rare earth deposits along the coastline. Opportunities for foreign direct investment in mining, value-added industries and the automobile sector were explored.The deputy CM briefed the Canadian delegation on Odisha’s heritage, agricultural scenario and industry-ready ecosystem. He highlighted the proposed green hydrogen hubs at Paradeep and Gopalpur. “Canada expressed interest in dual projects related to clean energy and industrial cooperation. Both sides agreed to pursue further institutional dialogue,” a govt statement reads.
