Jaipur: Six schoolchildren and a teacher were seriously injured after a camper ferrying around 40 students home from school overturned in Bikaner’s Pugal area Thursday, with several of the injured sustaining head injuries and being referred to PBM Hospital in Bikaner for treatment.Pugal station house officer Samarveer Singh said the accident occurred when the camper’s tyre allegedly burst, causing the driver to lose control and the vehicle to overturn. The children were initially taken to the govt hospital in Pugal, where doctors referred seven of them to PBM Hospital in Bikaner after assessing their injuries.The injured children, aged between five and 15 years, are mostly residents of Devasar village and nearby hamlets. A teacher, Teenu Kanwar, was also among those injured.Police said the camper had been arranged by a private school to ferry students to their homes after classes. The vehicle was carrying around 40 children towards Devasar and surrounding areas when the accident occurred.Some of the injured children suffered serious head injuries and were reported to be in critical condition. Police and local residents helped evacuate the children from the overturned vehicle before they were taken to hospital.The exact cause of the accident has not yet been established. Police are examining the vehicle and the circumstances leading to the alleged tyre burst as part of the investigation.
