Silchar: A man was arrested in Cachar for allegedly raping and impregnating his minor daughter.Police said the 17-year-old has learning disabilities. The accused was caught by residents on Friday night and handed over to the police and produced in court on Saturday.The case came to light after the accused’s brother filed an FIR, alleging that he repeatedly raped the girl over the past three to four months by threatening her and exploiting her condition. Family members suspected something was wrong after noticing physical changes in the teenager.“The complainant alleged that the accused took advantage of the victim’s learning disabilities to commit this heinous act. As soon as the news spread, residents gathered, detained the accused and informed the police,” a senior police officer privy to the investigation said.Police registered a case under the BNS sections and the Pocso Act. The survivor was sent for medical examination.
