Buxar: Unidentified burglars decamped with gold and silver jewellery worth over Rs 40 lakh and more than Rs 2 lakh in cash from three houses at Nuaon village under Krishnabrahm police station area early Thursday.The burglars targeted the houses of Lalbabu Singh, Satish Kumar Singh and Sanjay Singh. Family members alleged that the thieves sprayed some substance inside the houses to keep them unconscious and locked the rooms from outside before carrying out the theft.The incident came to light on Thursday morning when the residents woke up and found household items strewn across rooms. The locks of cupboards and storage boxes had also been broken.Preliminary estimates suggest that jewellery worth over Rs 40 lakh and cash exceeding Rs 2 lakh were stolen from the three houses. Police are verifying the exact value of the stolen property.

On receiving information, Krishnabrahm police rushed to the village and launched an investigation. Considering the scale of the theft, a team led by Dumraon SDPO Polast Kumar, along with the DIU and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams, inspected the spot and collected evidence.Police said the theft appeared to be well planned and expressed confidence that the case would be solved soon.
