Pune: A burglar, who was apprehended on Sunday by residents of a society in Indrayaninagar, Bhosari, turned out to be a criminal on the records of the Jalna and Nagpur police.The accused, Sagar Singh Andherele (27) of Jalna, has 17 burglary cases registered against him. The Bhosari police have recovered stolen cash and silver coins from his possession. The police also found a cartridge in a magazine, which slipped out from the country-made pistol of Singh’s accomplice.On Sunday morning, Singh and his accomplice broke into a flat in the housing society and stole Rs55,500 and two silver coins from the flat. While driving away from the premises, residents noticed them and tried to stop them. The duo threatened the residents with knives and a country-made pistol. Despite this, the residents nabbed Singh, while his accomplice escaped.The Bhosari police investigation revealed that the motorcycle used by the duo was stolen in Pune. A vehicle theft case was registered with the Vishrantwadi police for the same. “We recovered the stolen booty from Singh’s possession. We also recovered equipment used by the duo to break the locks of flats. Singh was produced before the court and sent to Yerawada central prison. A search is on for his accomplice, who is on the run,” the officer said.
