Hyderabad: A 20-year-old BTech student was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting his friend after reportedly forcing her to consume alcohol at his rented house on May 14. The incident came to light the next morning after the survivor had lodged a complaint with Ibrahimpatnam police.According to Ibrahimpatnam inspector Mahender Reddy, the accused is a native of Suryapet district. “The survivor told us that the accused had offered to take her out for snacks and took her to Dilsukhnagar. While returning, he stopped the car on BDL Road, purchased alcohol and allegedly forced her to consume it,” the inspector said. Police said the survivor had asked the accused to drop her at her hostel, but as the hostel was closed, he allegedly took her to his accommodation, where he sexually assaulted her while she was in a semi-conscious state.“When she woke up the next morning, she realised what had happened and confronted him. However, he left the house. She later informed her cousin, who advised her to approach the police,” the inspector said.The police said the accused was absconding when officers first reached his apartment. “Based on specific information, we traced him to a locality, where he had gone to return the rented car used for the outing,” Mahender Reddy said.During the investigation, police also found that the accused did not possess a driving licence. The accused allegedly took her to his accommodation after making her consume alcohol. He then sexually assaulted her while she was semi-conscious
