Krishnagiri: Unidentified burglars broke into the residence of a border security force (BSF) soldier at Vengilikkanapalli village near KRP dam on Saturday night and decamped with valuables worth ₹50 lakh.Police said the incident took place at the house of Kadhar Basha, who is currently serving with the BSF in Kashmir. His wife Reshma and their nine‑year‑old daughter live in the house.Reshma had locked the house and went to attend her daughter’s school annual day event on Saturday and had stayed overnight at her father’s residence nearby.When she returned home the next morning, she was shocked to find the lock on the front door broken and the house burgled. “Household items were scattered, and the almirah had been ransacked. About 40 sovereigns of gold jewellery, along with silver articles and cash, totalling ₹50 lakh had been stolen from the house,” said an officer from Krishnagiri dam police station.Police officers inspected the crime scene and registered a case. Forensic experts also collected fingerprints and other evidence. A hunt has been launched to trace the culprits, even as further investigation is on.
