Patna: Alumni, corporates, NRIs and NGOs will soon be able to adopt govt schools in Bihar through a new digital platform being launched by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), in a move aimed at mobilising long-term community support for more than 73,000 schools across the state.The initiative, titled “Mera Vidyalaya, Mera Swabhiman” (My School, My Pride), is scheduled to be launched later this month. It will provide a common digital interface linking govt schools with former students, corporate entities, non-resident Indians, NGOs and citizens willing to contribute towards their development.BSEB chairman Tyagarajan SM, who outlined the initiative at a state education department programme in Patna on Sunday, said the platform would help transform alumni support from an informal practice into a structured and trackable system of engagement.One of the key features of the portal is an adoption model under which an alumnus, alumni group, corporate house, organisation or NRI can adopt a govt school for three years, five years or even a lifetime. The adopters will be able to support schools in areas such as infrastructure, digital education, skill development and institutional strengthening.The portal will feature five modules: Contribute, CSR Partnership, Adoption, Registered Schools, and Badge & Identity. Through these modules, stakeholders will be able to identify schools requiring support and contribute resources, expertise, services or funding.According to officials, schools will also be able to upload and display their specific requirements on the platform, enabling donors and partner organisations to direct support where it is most needed.The initiative is expected to create a broader ecosystem involving alumni, citizens, NGOs and corporate houses. While citizens can contribute their skills, knowledge and resources, NGOs are expected to support educational quality and inclusion. Corporate entities can participate through CSR initiatives, while NRIs can contribute towards digital infrastructure and global learning opportunities.Officials said the scheme seeks to move beyond one-time donations by creating a mechanism for sustained support aligned with the specific needs of individual schools.Addressing district education officers and district programme officers at the event, Tyagarajan urged them to actively facilitate the initiative and help schools leverage the platform for their development.
