Hyderabad; Alleging that that the Congress govt was attempting to hand over valuable industrial land in Hyderabad to private interests through the HILTP policy, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said the BRS govt would scrap the HILT policy after returning to power. He said around 10,000 acres of valuable land in Hyderabad, with an estimated value of nearly ₹5 lakh crore, was being put at risk. He said the BRS would launch a campaign to educate people and industrial organizations about what he described as the adverse implications of the policy.Speaking to reporters at his residence on Saturday, KTR said the BRS would write to industrial organizations and place the details of the policy before the public through representations and presentations. He warned that those who were getting their properties regularised under the present policy could face serious losses in the future.He alleged that land originally allotted for industrial development and employment generation was now being opened up for private commercial and real-estate activities. Hyderabad, he said, was already facing a severe shortage of land even for public requirements such as playgrounds, housing and burial grounds, and handing over thousands of acres of valuable land to private interests would amount to a betrayal of public trust.KTR said the BRS would also take the alleged irregularities in the HILTP policy to the High Court and place all relevant issues before the judiciary and the people.The BRS working president alleged that the state govt was expanding the prohibited-properties list and using Section 22-A restrictions to create difficulties for ordinary property owners. He claimed that large numbers of private properties were being brought under restrictions, preventing people from selling or dealing with their own hard-earned properties.He alleged that the new restrictions were being used to harass property owners and create opportunities for illegal collections. The BRS, he said, would expose what it described as irregularities relating to 22-A restrictions, HILTP, TDR transactions and other land-related decisions of the Congress govt.KTR said the BRS would continue to fight for the protection of public assets as well as the properties of ordinary citizens. He said the party would take these issues to the people through sustained political campaigns and awareness programmes.ends/
