Hyderabad: The BRS urged governor Shiv Pratap Shukla to intervene in incidents involving its legislators and seek reports from the govt, chief secretary and director general of police (DGP).BRS leaders KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, Talasani Srinivas Yadav and legislators met the governor and submitted a representation.The party sought revocation of the suspension of MLCs Tatha Madhu and Naveen Reddy, saying they were not given an opportunity to explain their side. It asked the governor to seek a report on events on the first day of the Assembly session on Sept 7, including why entry was denied to legislators and details of persons in civilian clothes present at Gate No. 3.The BRS sought directions to preserve CCTV footage from assembly premises. It urged action against those responsible for wishing former CM K Chandrasekhar Rao dead and those who attacked his Erravelli residence on Tuesday. It also sought enhanced security for KCR.Speaking to the media, KTR alleged police, acting at the govt’s direction, prevented BRS legislators from entering the assembly. “We wanted to stage our protest through T-shirts, just as Rahul Gandhi had protested in Parliament. We explained to the governor how the govt prevented us, as legislators, from entering the assembly and stopped us on the road itself,” he said.KTR alleged Sunita Laxma Reddy’s saree was pulled during the incident, calling it the beginning of a “Dushasana episode”. He accused the government of politicising the issue by repeatedly referring to the Speaker as the “Dalit Speaker”.“We have immense respect for the Speaker. However, we explained that it is the Congress party itself that is attempting to insult him by repeatedly calling him the ‘Dalit Speaker’,” KTR said.He also alleged AI-generated photographs and videos were released in connection with the incident. “If justice is not delivered in Telangana, we will also approach the National Commission for Women and file a complaint,” he said.
