Hyderabad: BRS will celebrate 10 years of the formation of new districts on Oct 10 and 11. The BRS govt had created new districts in 2016. BRS working president KT Rama Rao recalled that administrative decentralisation was one of the key objectives of the Telangana movement and that the KCR govt undertook administrative reforms to bring governance closer to the people. He said that the number of districts was increased from 10 to 33, thereby bringing administration closer to the people. He stated that the formation of new districts fulfilled the long-standing aspirations of the people and changed the situation in which residents previously had to travel 100–150 kilometres to reach district headquarters. He said priority was given to developing infrastructure, govt offices, healthcare and educational facilities at the district level. He asked the party leaders and cadres to celebrate districts at every district headquarters. Joint action committees (JACs) and activists who fought for the formation of the districts should be felicitated. Bar associations, journalists, employees, pensioners, women’s groups, youth organisations, poets, artists and social activists should be involved in the programmes and the development achieved by each district over the past ten years should be presented to the public.“The changes in the districts should be explained to people through a ‘Then–Now’ comparison. Each district should highlight its own unique success stories and extensive publicity should be given to the programmes through local media and social media platforms,” he said.KTR said that the formation of districts was not merely an administrative reorganisation, but part of an effort to bring development, welfare and infrastructure closer to people in accordance with regional needs.“Whether we are in power or not, the state is permanent and the districts are permanent. It is our responsibility to remind people of the changes brought about in Telangana through decentralisation of power and administrative reforms,” KTR told party cadre.KTR directed that the programmes to be held on Oct 10 and 11 should not be conducted merely as party events, but as district decade celebrations involving public participation.
