New Delhi: Nearly nine months after a man was allegedly murdered by the husband of the woman he was said to be having an illicit affair with, the 26-year-old brother-in-law of the main accused has been arrested by Delhi Police‘s crime branch for his alleged involvement in the crime.The accused was identified as Mohammad Nasim, a resident of Mohan Nagar in Ghaziabad.Police said the case was registered on June 1, based on a zero FIR from Jani in Meerut, under sections 103 (murder) and 238 (causing disappearance of evidence or giving false information to protect an offender) of the BNS at the Janakpuri police station.It had been alleged that one Mohammad Kadir, who was the colleague of one Irfan at a hospital, had been murdered by Irfan and his associates after his illicit relationship with Irfan’s wife was unveiled. Kadir had allegedly first been intoxicated with sleeping pills mixed with alcohol and later strangled to death. His body was subsequently disposed of in the Jani canal in Meerut.Nasim, who was the brother-in-law of Irfan, had allegedly absconded after the incident and had been declared a proclaimed offender on Sept 10.“A team mounted surveillance at the house of the absconding accused for several days and nights, but he hasn’t visited his house since the incident,” said DCP (crime) Vikram Singh.Police later found that he had been working as a cab driver using fake identities to evade arrest. He had reportedly used several phones and over 30 sim cards issued under the names of his relatives to mislead police. He was subsequently traced and arrested.
