Ghaziabad: Commuters and residents have called for urgent repairs to Kala Pathar Road following a recent water pipeline rupture that left large stretches severely damaged. Already plagued by potholes, the road becomes impassable during showers, flooding in several areas and accumulating mud residue that makes commute difficult.Kala Patthar Road, a key arterial route in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, connects Nyay Khand and Gyan Khand to NH-9. It witnesses heavy vehicular movement due to nearby residential hubs, commercial centres, and its proximity to Noida Sectors 62 and 63—especially during peak hours. The road serves as a crucial link for commuters travelling between Delhi-NCR.“Traffic movement comes to a standstill in some areas as vehicles become stuck in the muddy conditions. Pedestrians struggle to navigate the road, with several individuals sustaining injuries as they attempt to traverse the slick surface,” said Manoj Jain, a regular commuter on the stretch.Jain has written to the municipal corporation, urging authorities to take swift action to repair the damaged pipeline and restore safe passage along the road. “This is not just an inconvenience; it’s a safety hazard,” Jain said. “We need immediate intervention to resolve this issue.”Residents also urged local authorities to prioritise the repair work, emphasising the need for a prompt response to mitigate the hardships faced by the community. “Since the road provides key connectivity to Delhi-NCR and the Noida region, it’s even more necessary to speed up repairs here. The pipe leakage had led to the road being broken with potholes. This needs to be repaired on priority,” said Satish Kumar, a resident of Indirapuram.A response from officials concerned is awaited on the matter.
