Srinagar, Mar 25: The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) on Wednesday commenced snow clearance operations along the Domail–Amarnath Holy Cave route, marking the beginning of preparations for the upcoming annual pilgrimage.

Sources said that men and machinery have been deployed on a war footing to ensure the route is cleared in time. Excavators and snow cutters, along with labourers, are working round the clock to remove accumulated snow and restore connectivity.

“Snow clearance operations have begun from Domail towards the Holy Cave, with all necessary machinery and workforce put in place,” sources said. “Teams are working tirelessly to ensure the track is made accessible at the earliest.”

Sources added that the BRO has mobilised adequate resources to carry out the operation smoothly. “Our priority is to ensure that the route is safe and ready for pilgrims. Work is being carried out continuously, keeping in mind the significance of the yatra,” they added.

The Domail–Holy Cave stretch, constructed by the BRO in recent years, has significantly improved accessibility for pilgrims. Earlier, the route was narrow and posed challenges during peak yatra days.

“With the widening and improvement of the track, the movement of pilgrims has become smoother and safer,” another official source said. “This initiative has greatly enhanced the overall pilgrimage experience.”

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to facilitating a hassle-free yatra this year. “The government is taking all necessary steps, including infrastructure upgrades and timely snow clearance, to ensure that devotees do not face any inconvenience,” the official said.

The annual Amarnath Yatra attracts thousands of pilgrims from across the country, and early snow clearance is seen as a crucial step in ensuring smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
