Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Sunday hailed the 18th Brics Summit in New Delhi, held under India’s presidency, as a historic affirmation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “visionary and inclusive” leadership, saying the successful adoption of the New Delhi Declaration reflected India’s rising global influence.Samrat welcomed the consensus among member countries and said Modi’s diplomacy had brought diverse nations onto a common platform at a time of geopolitical tension and economic uncertainty.Extending his congratulations and gratitude to the Prime Minister, he also thanked Modi for giving Bihar’s traditional “sattu” and makhana prestigious international recognition during the summit.Samrat said the world was witnessing India’s rise under Modi’s leadership. India, he said, was no longer only presenting its views on global issues but was emerging as a power capable of offering direction and shared solutions. He added India’s Brics presidency had strengthened this role, while member countries’ commitment to multilateralism, international cooperation and a more just and balanced global order had sent an important message amid growing global challenges.Samrat said support for permanent membership of India and Brazil in the United Nations Security Council reinforced the role of developing countries in global governance. India, he said, had long argued international institutions must become more representative, democratic and aligned with present realities.He also welcomed the Brics countries’ firm stand against terrorism, particularly their condemnation of the April 22, 2025, terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. He said the commitment to act against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations underlined global unity, adding decisive action was needed against terror financing, cross-border movement of terrorists and those providing safe havens.On economic issues, Samrat said a rules-based, open and fair trade system was essential amid global uncertainty. He cited Brics concerns over declining global trade, supply-chain disruptions and unilateral sanctions, along with the call for World Trade Organisation reform. He said wars and conflicts should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy, and urged joint efforts to reduce nuclear threats and strengthen international peace and security.Samrat said commitments on the peaceful use of space science and technology and preventing an arms race in outer space were vital for humanity’s future. He said cooperation in artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure, quantum technology and innovation would shape the future economy, with India’s experience benefiting developing nations. He stressed sustainable development, poverty eradication, energy security through renewable, nuclear and hydrogen sources, and a just energy transition.
