Patna: A 27-year-old BPSC teacher from Uttar Pradesh allegedly died by suicide at her rented accommodation in Vaishali district on Saturday night, police said.The victim, identified as Madhu Pal, was posted at Higher Secondary School, Chehra Kalan, under Katahra police station area. A native of Kanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, she had been living in a rented room in the house of Lalan Srivastava near the school for the last one year.Police said the incident came to light after her husband, Gaurav Kumar Pal, informed the landlord that she was not responding to his calls. Around 11pm, police broke open the door and found her hanging from a ceiling fan.Madhu had been recruited through the BPSC teachers’ recruitment drive and had married Gaurav, a resident of Kannauj district in Uttar Pradesh, about three months ago. Family members and acquaintances alleged that her family opposed the marriage and had been pressuring her to end the relationship. Police said these claims are yet to be verified.An FSL team examined the spot and collected evidence. The room was sealed, and the body was sent to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for postmortem after it was not completed at Hajipur’s sadar hospital.Katahra SHO Sanjeev Kumar Dubey said no formal complaint had been filed by either side. “Police have registered an unnatural death case and are investigating the matter,” he said.School principal Chandrabhushan Kumar said Madhu was well-regarded by students and colleagues and was regular in performing her duties.
