Udupi: An 11-year-old boy from West Bengal, who was found alone at Udupi railway station and had been staying at the Govt Boys’ Home in Kunjibettu since Jan this year, as his parents’ names and address were unknown, was reunited with his family on Thursday.Acting on the instructions of the Udupi SP, Sampa Shetty from Karkala Town police traced the boy’s mother to Titwala in Kalyan, Maharashtra. The effort was carried out with the assistance of the Udupi Child Welfare Committee and officers from Gangarampur police station in West Bengal’s Dakshin Dinajpur district.Shetty contacted the mother and informed her about the boy’s whereabouts. The parents appeared before the Udupi Child Welfare Committee Thursday, submitted the necessary documents and took the boy home. SP Hariram Shankar commended Shetty for her efficiency in tracing the family and reuniting the child with his parents.
