Gorakhpur: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday launched an attack on the Samajwadi Party and the Congress, accusing them of spreading “false narrative” and attempting to mislead the people ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.Addressing a conference of BJP booth presidents from Gorakhpur Urban and Gorakhpur Rural Assembly constituencies, he urged party workers to remain vigilant against the “opposition’s conspiracies” and strengthen grassroots outreach.Speaking at the Yogiraj Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium, where 892 booth presidents participated, he said booth-level workers would play a decisive role in the 2027 elections.Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan, ‘Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot’, Yogi said, “The real electoral battle is fought at the booth. Whoever wins the booth wins the election. The booth is the real Kurukshetra of democracy.”Without naming any specific protest, Yogi alleged that opposition parties earlier “instigated farmers” and were now “provoking students” as part of a political strategy.He also referred to the protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, alleging that similar attempts were made to create unrest. He claimed that Congress and SP remained silent over the persecution of Hindus, Jains and Buddhists in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.He alleged that before 2017, the SP govt functioned under the influence of ‘Saifai Syndicate’, which controlled govt jobs and welfare schemes. “The diktat of Saifai Syndicate prevailed everywhere,” he said, contrasting it with what he called the BJP govt’s transparent recruitment process.The CM accused the opposition parties of repeatedly creating a “false narrative” by spreading misinformation. Referring to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he alleged that the opposition misled people on issues such as reservations and made “false promises”, including financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh.He appealed to BJP booth presidents to expose such campaigns at the grassroots and maintain continuous contact with voters.Claiming that BJP stands for “truth, development and public welfare”, Yogi said opposition parties believed in “anarchy, hooliganism, mafia rule and loot”. He added that BJP earned the trust of people by working with honesty and transparency.The CM also accused the opposition parties of failing to honour leaders like Dr BR Ambedkar and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel while “glorifying Muhammad Ali Jinnah”.He said it was under Prime Minister Narendra Modi that Ambedkar, Sant Ravidas, Maharishi Valmiki and Patel received due recognition, including the construction of the Statue of Unity in Patel’s honour.Highlighting the BJP govt’s welfare initiatives, the CM said 80 crore people across the country, including 16 crore in Uttar Pradesh, were receiving free ration under govt schemes.He contrasted this with previous govts, alleging that poverty and hunger led to deaths in the past, including among members of the Musahar community in Kushinagar.He said the BJP govt ensured complete transparency in recruitment and provided jobs to around nine lakh youths without recommendation, influence or bribery.He alleged that under the SP govt, recruitment in certain services favoured a particular caste.Listing the govt’s achievements, the CM referred to the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya, redevelopment of Kashi Vishwanath Dham, expansion of Vindhyachal Dham and development of Naimisharanya.He also highlighted infrastructure growth in Gorakhpur, particularly the six-lane flyover, and invited people to attend its inauguration on Thursday and share photographs on social media.Comparing BJP booth presidents to “soldiers guarding the nation’s borders”, Yogi said a vigilant organisational structure was essential for electoral success. Expressing confidence in the party’s prospects, he asserted that the BJP would form the govt in Uttar Pradesh for a third consecutive term in the 2027 Assembly elections.The conference began with floral tributes to Syama Prasad Mookerjee and Deendayal Upadhyaya, followed by the singing of Vande Mataram.BJP MP Ravi Kishan, Gorakhpur Mayor Manglesh Srivastava, Gorakhpur Rural MLA Vipin Singh, BJP MLC Dharmendra Singh, regional president Vinod Rai and several party office-bearers were present.
