JAIPUR: Bomb threats emailed to the Rajasthan Assembly, Rajasthan high court’s Jaipur bench and district courts triggered evacuations and hours-long searches Monday, with security teams later finding nothing suspicious. The Assembly secretariat received the threat at about 11.10 am, warning the building would be blown up within three hours using “RDX and cyanide-based explosives”. Security agencies evacuated the premises and launched a search.“We informed the DGP and police commissioner about it. They checked the premises. Earlier, similar threats were received at the high court. Thus, the police should make efforts to trace those sending these mails. This must be firmly controlled,” Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devani told reporters.
Bomb disposal squads, dog squads and special teams searched the Assembly complex and surrounding areas for nearly two-and-a-half hours before normal activity resumed.Similar emails were sent to official IDs at the Rajasthan high court, Jaipur bench, and the Jaipur sessions court, warning of explosions. In Bikaner, a court complex was evacuated after a threat email late Sunday night. Police searched the premises, but recovered nothing incriminating.Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot called the situation “extremely serious” and questioned the lack of action. “Despite repeated threats to courts and buildings, no action has been taken. Even the assembly is now being threatened. What are the govt and police doing?” he said, also flagging rising crimes against women as “highly unfortunate”.Leader of Opposition Tikaram Jully said the situation was alarming. “What kind of law and order is this? Every time such a threat comes, panic spreads and work gets disrupted, yet the accused are not being caught,” he said, urging the chief minister and the Union home minister to take strict action.
