Bokaro: Excise officials seized 534.6 litres of spurious Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from a manufacturing unit under Jaridih police station limits here on Wednesday night. The factory was operating out of Roriya village. An FIR was registered against three persons on Thursday.Besides spurious liquor, which was packed in 1,800 bottles, 900 litres of spirit stored in 18 jerry cans were seized from the premises. “The team also confiscated a large quantity of counterfeit excise adhesive labels (EALs), brand stickers, bottle caps, empty bottles and caramel colouring agents used in the manufacturing process. The illegal unit was engaged in bottling and packaging fake liquor for distribution in the region,” Bokaro deputy commissioner Ajay Nath Jha said on Thursday.The raids were carried out as a part of heightened vigilance being maintained across the district for the upcoming civic body polls on Feb 23 and Holi festivities early next month.Excise officials said an FIR has been lodged against Raja Babu of Kundori, Santosh Murmu of Basteji and Durga Charan Hansdah of Roriya villages under relevant sections of the Excise Act.
