Kanpur: Body of an unidentified man, around 45-year-old, was found in the Khujaupur drain located in Maharajpur on Friday morning. Police estimate that the body has been lying there for about 15 days and are utilizing social media to assist in its identification.Local residents noticed the body lying near the Khujaupur drain under the Maharajpur police station area and informed the police. Upon arrival, the police retrieved the body from the drain and initiated efforts to ascertain the man’s identity.The police have assessed the deceased to be around 45 years of age, with the body believed to be about 15 days old. Currently, a comprehensive investigation is underway. Rajesh Kumar, in-charge of Maharajpur police station said that inquiries are being made with notable individuals from the village and nearby areas to help identify the body.Additionally, the police are gathering information regarding missing persons from various police stations and outposts within the district and neighbouring districts. Identification efforts are also being pursued through social media platforms and WhatsApp groups. Villagers and police noted that the drain had been filled with water four to five days prior, and the body became visible only after the water level receded yesterday evening.
