JAMSHEDPUR: Police found the body of a teenage girl inside a government school premises in Jamshedpur on Saturday morning, as per a PTI news agency report.The victim is believed to be around 17 years old and her identity is yet to be established, officials said.The body was recovered from a government school located in Sopodera village under the Parsudih police station area, they further added.The body was first spotted by the operator of an anganwadi centre functioning on the school premises. The operator immediately informed police, following which a team rushed to the spot and began an investigation, Avinash Kumar, officer-in-charge of Parsudih police station, said.The body was later sent to MGM Hospital for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.Efforts are underway to identify the girl. Neighbouring police stations have been asked to verify missing person complaints registered in their respective jurisdictions, police added.“We have asked neighbouring police stations to verify missing person reports in their respective areas to establish the identity of the victim. Locals told us that the girl did not belong to Sopodera village,” Kumar said.When asked whether the case involved rape and murder, the officer said no signs of sexual assault had been detected during the preliminary investigation.“The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the autopsy report is received,” the officer further said.
