Dumka: The body of a 20-year-old man was recovered from a pond in Dhunavasa village under Maslia police station limits on Saturday. Family members of the deceased, identified as Ramdhan Hansda, alleged he was murdered over a longstanding land dispute.Family members informed the police that Hansda had gone to bathe in the pond, located 500 metres from his house, in the morning. When he did not return, his family members began searching and found his body floating in the water.Hansda is survived by his mother, wife and a one-year-old son.Hansda’s family members alleged they spotted deep injury marks around his eyes and mouth and claimed his body was dumped in the pond after murder. “Hansda’s family was entangled in a dispute with some villagers for quite some time now. The dispute could have led to his death,” Som Soren, a relative, claimed.Rajesh Ranjan, the officer in-charge of Masalia police station, said, “The circumstances surrounding the death are being examined. The cause of death will be ascertained when we recieve the postmortem examination report.”
