NEW DELHI: The body of a 10-year-old boy who had gone missing from his home in Delhi’s Bawana area was found in a forested area near a cemetery, with injury marks on his hands and legs, police said Tuesday.The boy, identified as Intzar, was reported missing on Sunday after he was last seen playing in a lane near his home in Bawana, police said.Around 3 pm on Monday, police received a PCR call about the body of a child lying in a blood-soaked condition in the Narela Industrial Area. A police team reached the spot and recovered the body.The body was sent for post-mortem examination and police are awaiting the report to ascertain the cause of death, an official said.Crime and forensic teams were also called to the spot and evidence was collected, police said.According to Intzar’s father, Ayub, the boy was playing near their house around 11.30 am on Sunday when he suddenly went missing.The family searched the surrounding areas and asked several people about his whereabouts. When they could not trace him, a missing person report was lodged with the police.The family had also shared Intzar’s photograph with a person who operates a swing in the area. On Monday afternoon, the man informed them that the body of a child had been found in the nearby forest area after shepherds spotted it.When the family reached the spot, they identified the body as that of Intzar, his father said.Ayub said the injury marks on the child’s body raised suspicion that he may have been murdered. He also said the family had no enmity with anyone and that Intzar had never gone towards the forested area, leaving it unclear how he reached there.Police said they are scanning CCTV footage from the area and questioning local residents and other persons.The exact cause and circumstances of the death will be clear after the post-mortem examination, police said.(With inputs from PTI)
