Madikeri: A man from Kodagu who went to view paddy fields was killed after being struck by lightning in Yelwala near Mysuru on Tuesday. The victim, Hosoklu Roshan Balakrishna, was the son of late Hosoklu Balakrishna of Heravanad village near Madikeri. Roshan was an IT employee who recently quit his job and, along with his colleague, was involved in agricultural activities, including introducing modern agricultural equipment and marketing it. He was accidentally struck by lightning while visiting a paddy field in Yelwala in the evening hours. Another person who was with him was also injured but escaped unhurt. The funeral was held in Heravanad. The deceased is survived by his wife and a son.In another incident, a man from Kodagu who went to a tribal conference died of a heart attack on Tuesday. Mathari Harsha, 37, of Chikkathur village under Kudumangalore gram panchayat limits in Kodagu died of a heart attack while returning from a tribal conference recently held in Delhi. He was returning from Delhi to Bengaluru by train when he developed chest pain in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Doctors examined him on the spot and confirmed his death. He was the son of Mathari Bhojappa of Doddathur village and is survived by his wife and a daughter. He was brought to his hometown for cremation.
