BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar

T’puram: BJP state president Rajeev Chandrashekar has written to chief minister V D Satheesan urging him to recommend a CBI probe into the Sabarimala gold heist and withdraw cases against devotees for taking part in protests.BJP will be compelled to launch a statewide peaceful mass agitation to safeguard the rights and faith of Lord Ayyappa devotees if the govt fails to take a satisfactory decision on these issues, he said in the letter.Chandrasekhar also said that the new govt should carry out two things immediately – a CBI inquiry into all allegations related to the gold theft at Sabarimala to uncover the truth and ensure the security and transparency of temple assets; scrap all cases registered against devotees who participated in the protests over women’s entry at the hill shrine.“Now that you have assumed office as CM, the devotee community expects a fair, timely, and decisive resolution on these matters. We therefore request urgent action on both of these demands,” Chandrasekhar said.Over the past several years, there have been continuous intrusions into the beliefs and rituals of devotees in connection with Sabarimala, he said.“The developments that began in 2018 caused deep anguish among the devotee community. Following that, the serious revelations in 2025 regarding the loss of gold from the Sabarimala temple have doubled their concern.”“As a political movement firmly committed to protecting the faith and rights of devotees, we had strongly raised these issues even during the previous govt’s tenure. On behalf of the devotees, we now urge the newly assumed govt to immediately implement the following demands,” he added.
