Thiruvananthapuram: BJP would hoist the national flag and sing ‘Vande Mataram’ in full at 15,000 centres across the state on Independence Day, party state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on Thursday.The events planned would be part of a nationwide programme being organised at hundreds of thousands of centres, he said.Chandrasekhar said the programme was intended to highlight the significance of Vande Mataram as a symbol of the freedom struggle and national unity. It also aimed to mobilise public opinion against attempts to insult the national song and positions that, according to him, supported the anti-national forces.BJP would remain at the forefront of efforts to uphold the tricolour, protect the country’s integrity and sovereignty, and build a developed India, he said.Chandrasekhar alleged that CPM and Congress were extending political support to forces seeking to weaken the country. The patriotic people of Kerala would recognise the positions adopted by the two parties, he added. Describing Vande Mataram as inseparably linked to the history of India’s freedom struggle, Chandrasekhar said upholding its legacy was the responsibility of every Indian. The simultaneous rendition of the full song at 15,000 centres would send a strong message of nationalism and patriotism, he said.
