Srinagar, Aug 7 : The BJP District Unit Anantnag has suspended nine office bearers and removed them from all party posts with immediate effect for allegedly organizing and participating in an unauthorized Tiranga rally in the district.

In an office order issued, District President Rakesh Koul said the rally was held at Housing Colony Khanabal on August 5 without the permission of the District Unit or the District Administration.

The order stated that the party has also taken serious note of “objectionable and derogatory remarks” allegedly made against women during the rally. It termed such conduct as “wholly unacceptable and against the values, discipline, dignity, and principles of the Bharatiya Janata Party.”

According to the order, the decision was taken after detailed deliberations with State General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, State General Secretary Anwar Khan, State Spokesperson and Prabhari Anantnag Altaf Thakur, and the BJP District Core Committee Anantnag.

Those suspended members include Nisar Ahmad Bhat of Wangam Shangus, District General Secretary; Khursheed Ahmad Sofi of Hassanpora Bijbehara, District Secretary; Aabida Rafiq of Achabal, District Secretary and former District Vice President; Irshad Ahmad Malik of Gopalpora Mattan, Constituency President Shangus; Mohd Maqbool Ganie of Achabal; Waheed Ahmad Itoo of Hassanoor Aishmuqam, Constituency President Pahalgam; Nisar Ahmad Hakeem of Dehwatoo Pahalgam, District Secretary; Feroz Ahmad Hajam of Kherchi Larnoo, District Secretary Kisan Morcha; and Sabrooza Akhter of Thajiwara, District Secretary Mahila Morcha.

Their primary membership of the party has also been suspended pending further inquiry.

The order further clarified that Alveer Ahmad Dar of Batengoo Anantnag and Fancy Akhter of Hangulgund Kokernag are not associated with the BJP District Unit Anantnag in any capacity and do not hold any organizational post or responsibility.(GNS)
