T’puram: BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar accused CPM and Congress of dragging BJP functionary V Muraleedharan into the CMRL-Exalogic monthly payoffs case to divert public attention from the serious allegations in the case.Chandrasekhar’s reaction came amid allegations that Muraleedharan’s name also figured in the diary of CMRL managing director Sasidharan Kartha. On Thursday, BJP state vice-president Shone George had released excerpts from the diary featuring the names of LDF and UDF functionaries.BJP will strongly resist political moves targeting Muraleedharan and stand firmly by him, Chandrasekhar said. “Muraleedharan has denied the allegations and said he did not receive money from CMRL. He also said he could not be held responsible for the details released by George,“ Chandrasekhar said, adding that questions regarding the party vice-president should be directed to the state president.A section within BJP is reportedly unhappy with the turn of events. Though George released the names of LDF and UDF functionaries, including leader of opposition Pinarayi Vijayan and chief minister V D Satheesan, he has not given a satisfactory explanation regarding allegations that details concerning BJP and RSS functionaries whose names also allegedly figured in the diary were kept under wraps.Chandrasekhar had said on Thursday that BJP would welcome an investigation into the role of any BJP functionary. He said the questions of who paid the money, who received it, why it was paid and what political links were involved should be answered through a lawful investigation. Govt should register an FIR and conduct a comprehensive probe into the Exalogic allegations, Chandrasekhar said.He also demanded an FIR against Vijayan, his daughter Veena T and son-in-law P A Mohamed Riyas, alleging that CPM and Congress were jointly attempting to divert attention from the case.
