Shimla: A delegation of the Himachal Pradesh BJP on Monday submitted a memorandum to the governor, Kavinder Gupta, opposing the shifting of gynaecology services from Kamla Nehru Hospital, Shimla, to Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, warning it could affect maternal and neonatal healthcare.BJP leaders, including state general secretary Sanjeev Katwal and media convenor Karan Nanda, submitted that the IGMC was already overburdened, and termed the move a “silent shifting” without proper planning. The delegation highlighted that over Rs 20 crore of public funds were invested in upgrading Kamla Nehru Hospital. They also raised concerns over the steep hike in private vehicle pass fees for sealed and restricted roads from Rs 2,000 to Rs 10,000, alleging it would burden residents and traders. The delegation termed the state govt’s decisions arbitrary and demanded immediate intervention. Urging the governor to act, the BJP called for maintaining existing hospital services and rolling back the fee hike, warning of intensified protests if concerns are ignored.MSID:: 130234567 413 |
