Kolkata: Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya on Sunday said the party was not averse to inducting members but sounded a word of caution against those who suddenly became overenthusiastic about the saffron party’s ideology following the assembly poll verdict.BJP does not need any ally in Bengal and will fight the forthcoming municipal polls alone, he said.“There could be people who want to join BJP. We have never said the doors are completely shut to them. On the other hand, we have never said the doors are completely open. We need to exercise caution. Suddenly, a section of people has started feeling enthused about the party after the poll results. Their enthusiasm doesn’t have any love for the party or its ideology,” he said.Speaking at a blood donation camp in Shyampukur, Bhattacharya said no BJP worker attacked Trinamool councillors. “Despite that, they have stopped providing civic services. Nobody had asked the mayor of Kolkata Municipal Corporation to resign. There will be elected representatives in municipalities by end of Nov,” he said.Bhattacharya said BJP fought the assembly polls alone and does not need any ally here. “If any political party feels aligned with BJP, it is up to them. We don’t have any ally in Bengal. We fought the election alone. We will fight it alone in the forthcoming civic polls,” he added.Commenting on allies like Nationalist Citizens Party of India, he said: “There could be people who are in trouble and need help. There are similar people in politics. We are showing them political courtesy. But we don’t have a heart big enough to accommodate them.”The BJP state president said while there could be some errors in the 106 days of governance, the newly formed govt was trying hard to establish the rule of law.
