Mumbai: Mulund police have booked Kaushik Patil, BJP’s North East Mumbai district vice-president, for allegedly assaulting and obstructing an on-duty police constable during a late-night incident in Mulund.According to the FIR registered at Mulund Police Station, police constable Bhausaheb Ingle and his colleague were on night patrol when they saw a crowd gathered outside Siesta Tower at Swapna Nagri on LBS Road around 12.50 am Friday. The police asked the group, who were reportedly celebrating a birthday, to disperse.Police alleged that Patil refused to comply, abused and threatened the constable, claiming he could get him suspended and identifying himself as the brother of an MP and a BJP district president. When officers attempted to detain him, he allegedly pushed Ingle, hit him in the chest and tore the pocket of his uniform, damaging his nameplate.
