Kolkata: Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya has appointed BJP MP and state general secretary Jyotirmay Singh Mahato and state minister Gouri Shankar Ghosh as in-charges for the upcoming bypolls in Nandigram and Rejinagar assembly constituencies, respectively.The Nandigram seat fell vacant after CM Suvendu Adhikari gave up the constituency and retained Bhowanipore, where he defeated TMC chief Mamata Banerjee in the assembly elections earlier this year. Rejinagar was vacated after Aam Janata Unnayan Party founder Humayun Kabir resigned from the seat.Polling will be held on Oct 6, with counting scheduled for Oct 9. The EC has said the election process will be completed by Oct 11.BJP has fielded Hasirani Rath from Nandigram and Sakharav Sarkar from Rejinagar. Rath, mother of Adhikari’s deceased personal assistant Chandranath Rath, filed her nomination on Wednesday.“I am grateful to the party. The way Nandigram organisation and leadership have been supporting me till now and will continue to do so in the future, we hope that we will be able to reach our target of 1,10,000 votes in Nandigram, which we hope will be achieved by the CM,” Rath said.Congress has nominated Milan Pradhan from Nandigram and Mohd Abdullahil Kafi from Rejinagar.
