Lucknow: The UP BJP celebrated the 75th birthday of Lucknow MP and defence minister Rajnath Singh by organising various religious, social and service-oriented programmes across the city on Friday.The main event featured a musical recitation of the ‘Sundarkand’ at the Hanuman Setu temple, which was attended by a large number of BJP office-bearers, party workers and devotees. The programme was inaugurated by BJP Lucknow metropolitan president, Anand Dwivedi.Those present on the occasion included deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak, cabinet minister Bhupendra Chaudhary, UP BJP vice president Neeraj Singh and a large number of party workers.Pathak and Dwivedi felicitated social workers and senior party members — Subhash Agarwal, Ajay Arora, Brij Kishore Dwivedi, Sadhana Verma, Madhuri Shukla, Om Prakash Dhanuk, Dr Vivek, Ram Ratan Maurya and Ramchandra Chaurasia.Pathak said that Rajnath’s public life serves as an inspiring example of simplicity, honesty, discipline and service to the nation. He said that as defence minister, he has not only strengthened the country’s security but also imparted new momentum to the development of Lucknow.Neeraj Singh, who is the younger son of Rajnath, said that his father has been continuously working to realise the vision for Lucknow’s development envisioned by party stalwart and former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.Chaudhary said that he got the opportunity to work alongside Rajnath for a long time. He said Rajnath’s personality serves as a source of inspiration and guidance for party workers.
