Srinagar, Aug 14: BJP Jammu and Kashmir Chief Spokesperson Sunil Sethi and other party spokespersons on Thursday greeted the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of the 80th Independence Day, highlighting the country’s progress and what they described as the transformation of J&K since August 5, 2019.
Addressing a virtual meeting of BJP J&K spokespersons and members of the party’s Media Department, Sethi said Independence Day was an occasion to remember the sacrifices of freedom fighters and reaffirm commitment to the nation’s progress.
He said the Tricolour represented India’s unity, sovereignty, constitutional values and aspirations of its people, and called upon citizens to celebrate the day with patriotism and dignity.
The spokespersons highlighted India’s progress in infrastructure, technology, defence, space, digital development and economic growth, saying the country had emerged as a strong and globally respected nation.
On Jammu and Kashmir, they said the Union Territory had witnessed greater integration, development, improved connectivity, investment, tourism growth and increased opportunities for youth in recent years, particularly after August 5, 2019.
The BJP leaders called for strengthening national unity under the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” and urged people to contribute to nation-building through education, innovation, entrepreneurship, sports and public service.
They also appealed to people to participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga initiative and hoist the National Flag with pride and respect.
Sethi and the party spokespersons extended Independence Day greetings to the people and expressed hope that the country would continue on the path of peace, unity, development and prosperity.
