Ludhiana: Jatinder Goryan, the husband of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councilor from Ward Number 17, Rubi Goryan, has accused a group of men of attacking him near Jamalpur Chowk on Thursday night. The complainant stated that the accused, which included a man dressed as a Nihang, intercepted his path while he was returning home in his car. Her husband alleged that the assailants were armed with sharp-edged weapons and threatened to kill him; however, he managed to escape by refusing to step out of his vehicle.Following the incident, Goryan, accompanied by his aides, reached the police station seeking immediate action. The complainant staged a protest outside the station while half-naked but was eventually pacified after police assured him that a case would be registered. However, on Friday, the complainant and his supporters launched a fresh protest at the Focal Point police station, claiming that the police had failed to include the required legal sections in the FIR.Jatinder recounted that while he had called the police, officers initially could not ascertain the correct jurisdiction. Meanwhile, the convoy of Punjab cabinet minister Hardeep Singh Mundian happened to pass by and stopped near his car, causing the assailants to flee the scene.Inspector Kulbir Singh, station house officer (SHO) at the Focal Point Police Station, stated that the police have registered a case against the unidentified accused. He added that an active probe is currently underway to trace the individuals involved in the attack.
