Alwar: Collectorate office in Alwar, Monday saw a huge crowd with candidates filing nominations for civic polls on the last day. Ajay Agrawal, former chairperson of municipal council, who had contested from Congress last time, got his wife Sumanlata nominated from BJP. Rebels from both BJP and Congress, unhappy over not getting tickets, also filed nominations, making the contest more competitive.Just before the ticket announcement, infighting in BJP came to the fore. As soon as the names surfaced on the phone, Alwar city’s two mandal presidents, Jitendra Rathore and Mahesh Nihalani, resigned from their posts.Jitendra Rathore told the media that ignoring the mandal president, an OBC was given a ticket on the general seat, and he was not even consulted.Mahesh Nihalani said tickets were given to those who are facing opposition from the public, while those who worked with the party for decades have been ignored.BJP spokesperson Naresh Dhanawat filed his nomination as an independent after he was denied a ticket. Accusing party district president Ashok Gupta and forest minister Sanjay Sharma, he said those who worked for the party were sidelined.
