Kolkata: Bengal BJP has already started preparing for the Nandigram and Rejinagar assembly bypolls — still more than two months away. Party general secretary Jyotirmay Singh Mahato has been assigned charge of Nandigram. BJP vice president Prabal Raha will oversee the party campaign in Rejinagar. The Nandigram assembly seat was vacated after CM Suvendu Adhikari resigned as the MLA from the constituency following his victory in both Bhawanipore and Nandigram. The Rejinagar seat was vacated following the resignation of Janata Unnayan Party founder Humayun Kabir after he won from Nowda and Rejinagar.CM Suvendu Adhikari had earlier said that BJP would “definitely win from Nandigram,” and on separate occasions called for the “lotus to bloom” in Rejinagar in order to bring development to the region.BJP’s campaign in Murshidabad’s Rejinagar is focused on creating jobs and bringing back migrant workers. Raha, who will oversee the party’s campaign, left for Rejinagar on Friday.A former Forward Bloc functionary and an aide to ex-minister Kamal Guha, Raha is said to have deep grounding in organisational work. “I will hold meetings at the mandal-level first and assess the ground reality,” he said.
