Coimbatore: Senior BJP leaders on Thursday convened a meeting with all 26 party candidates who contested the recent assembly election, along with key BJP leaders, to review and assess the reasons behind the party’s rout in the polls.BJP won only one seat in the election—Udhagamandalam constituency in Nilgiris district.Senior party officials sought to know the reasons for the defeat, understand ground realities and formulate corrective measures.Former state BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan stated those who vowed to combat a certain ‘evil force’ have in fact formed a govt in alliance with the elements of that very force. She said the Congress members have managed to become ministers through ‘back door’.She described the Congress as a party rife with corruption that has failed to implement schemes beneficial to the public. She urged observers to closely scrutinize the actions of TVK, given their alliance with the Congress.TNN
