New Delhi: Chief minister Rekha Gupta and Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra Saturday accused AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and functionaries of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) of disrupting public life and inconveniencing commuters, daily-wage earners and patients trying to reach hospitals.Malhotra described the protest as “a complete flop” and party spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor alleged that Kejriwal had misled young protesters by promising to join the demonstration at Jantar Mantar with his family, but didn’t turn up.“Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal, rejected by the people, want to turn Delhi into an arena of political confrontation by joining hands with their B-team, CJP,” Gupta posted on X. “What fault do Delhiites have, who are already troubled by the chaos on the streets… Are your political ambitions more important than the livelihoods, safety and peace of lakhs of families in Delhi?” she asked.CM added, “Let it be clear: Delhi will not be allowed to be held hostage. There will be a resolute fight against attempts to foment anarchy under the guise of democracy and against politics that challenges the people’s mandate.”Malhotra claimed that even the few “brainwashed” youth who took to the streets lost their morale after seeing CJP’s Abhijeet Dipke and others “staging an aerial arrest” around 11am. “Neither CJP nor AAP workers turned up for the protest, only a handful of communist youths were seen running around in a state of confusion.”Claiming that public participation was negligible, Kapoor said the protest had once again exposed Kejriwal’s “falsehoods” as neither any member of his family, as announced by him Friday, nor any party worker turned up. “He himself left home in the evening instead of the morning and did not reach Jantar Mantar. He… misled ordinary young people and sent them to face police,” Malhotra alleged.Meanwhile, Rahul, in a post on X, accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of suppressing dissent and alleged that BJP’s political space was shrinking. The Congress MP urged the youth to continue protesting and said the opposition would defend the Constitution and people’s voice, and defeat BJP.
