Kanpur: Police arrested Sanjay Dhaba, one of the four accused named in the murder case of businessman Amit Kumar Gupta, after an encounter on Sunday.On being stopped, Sanjay opened fire on the police team, said police, adding that in retaliatory action, he was shot in both legs. The injured accused has been sent to the hospital for treatment.DCP Central Atul Shrivastava said that Amit was assaulted on Sept 5 and died during treatment on Sept 7.Based on CCTV footage and technical evidence, the names of four accused — Hitendra Shrivastava alias Monu Neta, Kushal Shrivastava, Sanjay Dhaba and Ashwini Yadav — had surfaced in the case. More than 50 cases are registered against the main accused, Sanjay Dhaba. Four police teams were formed to arrest him.On the night of Sept 5, drunk youths assaulted Amit and attacked him with bricks and stones after he stopped them from urinating on the road at Om Chauraha in Kakadev. Amit was seriously injured in the incident, which took place about 300 metres from Pandunagar police outpost.Police are conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused.
