Jammu, Sep 28: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu & Kashmir Branch Office, facilitated an exposure visit for 255 students from 11 BIS Standard Clubs to the “Gatisheel Jammu & Kashmir 2.0” Exhibition in Jammu on Monday.
The students, mainly from schools in the far-flung and hilly areas of Doda, Ramban and Rajouri, visited various stalls showcasing products, technologies, services and initiatives of government departments, PSUs and other organisations.
The visit was aimed at providing students with experiential learning and helping them connect classroom education with real-world applications. They also interacted with representatives of participating organisations and learned about science, technology, public services, quality and standards.
The participating schools included Government High School, Hanch; Government Higher Secondary School, Darhal; Government High School, Chakka; Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar; Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Sunderbani; Kendriya Vidyalaya, Jodhpur; Government Higher Secondary School, Jatheli; Government High School, Gambhir Brahmna; Government High School, Thandikassi; Government High School, Ablimasri; and Government Higher Secondary School, Berarru.
The BIS stall showcased information on Indian Standards, ISI Mark, hallmarking, BIS Care App and quality-conscious consumer practices. Officials briefed visitors on standardisation, certification, quality promotion and consumer awareness.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Law and Order), Jammu, Ansuya Jamwal, who also visited the BIS stall and reviewed its activities.
BIS resource persons Monika Sharma and Amit Gupta facilitated the students during their visit, helping them understand the exhibits and interact with participating organisations.
The BIS said such exposure visits are aimed at strengthening the Standard Club programme and promoting awareness about quality, safety and standards among school students.
