Ludhiana: Three armed, motorcycle-borne miscreants brandished a sharp weapon and snatched a gold chain from a woman in Khanna on Tuesday evening. Although the crime occurred on Tuesday, CCTV footage detailing the incident emerged on Thursday.The victim had left her home around 7.45 pm on scooter to buy stationery for her children. According to her brother-in-law, Manish Jindal, the three suspects spotted her and began stalking her from Peer Khana Chowk.After completing her purchase, the woman mounted her scooter to leave. At that moment, one of the accused approached from behind and yanked the gold chain from her neck. The victim attempted to chase the snatcher but lost her balance, falling onto the road and sustaining injuries.A passer-by noticed the struggle and attempted to intercept the fleeing suspects. However, the pillion rider pulled out a sharp-edged weapon and lunged at him, forcing the witness to step back. All three accused then sped away from the spot.The family lodged a police complaint on the day of the incident, handing over CCTV footage and photographs of the suspects to investigators. The stolen gold chain, which included a locket, weighed between 15 to 20 grams.“A case will be registered in the matter and they are working to identify the accused. He added that they will be arrested soon,” said Khanna city two SHO, Talwinder Bedi.
