Patna: Education minister Mithilesh Tiwari on Monday held a high-level meeting to review the upcoming Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4).

Addressing the concerns of aspirants, Tiwari said the demands raised by the candidates are completely legitimate. He emphasised that all aspirants in the state are eager to get their jobs as soon as possible. However, he noted that the recruitment process involving the department and Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) naturally takes time.

Speaking about the recent protests, the minister said on the very first day of assuming charge on May 8, some aspirants came out on the streets at the “instigation of certain people”. He described the subsequent lathicharge on some aspirants as unfortunate and something that should not have happened. Tiwari clarified that the police acted as per their standard operating procedure regarding movement in the city.

The minister said he has already called a meeting with all senior officials to fully understand the situation. He added that CM Samrat Choudhary has also taken cognisance of the matter. Tiwari said he has requested the CM to complete the entire recruitment schedule as early as possible.

In an appeal to the protesting aspirants, the minister urged them not to come out on the streets. “The govt that you have voted in Bihar is working for you and the education minister is sitting in the Secretariat. Come to us with your problems, meet us, and whatever needs to be done to resolve those problems will be done. Therefore, there is no need to agitate for this,” he said.
