Nitish Kumar’s exit reshapes Bihar power balance
Nitish Kumar, the longest-serving chief minister in Bihar’s history, stepped down to move to the Rajya Sabha, triggering a major political transition in the state. His son Nishant Kumar, who had largely stayed away from active politics, entered public life amid pressure from JD(U) workers concerned about the party’s future after Nitish Kumar’s exit from power.
Samrat Choudhary’s elevation marks the first time the BJP has secured direct control of the chief minister’s office in Bihar after years of functioning as the junior ally in governments led by Nitish Kumar.
