Times News NetworkKanpur: A fire broke out at a bicycle seat factory in Begampurwa, Babupurwa, Kanpur on Monday afternoon, destroying goods and household items worth around Rs 2 lakh. The factory, owned by Shamshad, was running on the ground floor of Imran Husain’s three-storey house, built on 100 sq yards near Idgah Shifa Masjid. His family lived on the upper floors. The fire started around 2:30 pm after sparks reportedly came out of a junction box on an underground power line outside the factory. Nearby foam and rexine materials caught fire and the flames spread quickly to the second floor, with smoke rising about 25 feet high.Residents raised an alarm and helped Imran evacuate family members from the building.Three fire tenders from Kidwai Nagar, Fazalganj and Latouche Road fire stations reached the site.
