Varanasi: The Malaviya Centre for Ethics and Human Values, BHU launched a four-day commemorative programme titled ‘Rhythms of Bharat: Celebration of Freedom, Culture and Unity’ on Wednesday to mark the 79th Independence Day.The initiative brings together academic discourse, artistic performances and student competitions to celebrate India’s civilizational journey, democratic heritage and spirit of unity.The first day of the event featured a seminar titled ‘Tribute to the Revolutionary Freedom Fighters: The Unsung Heroes of Bharat’, a lecture on revolutionary figures by Prof Amitava Chatterjee from Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol, and an interactive session between the speakers and the audience.On the second day of the programme, the focus will shift to cultural expressions reflecting the emotional landscape of freedom. It will feature a musical performance blending modern and classical traditions, including soulful flute renditions capturing the spirit of liberation.On August 14, the programme will focus on youth engagement and historical reflection through competitive events. Students from various faculties will participate in extempore speech and painting competitions. .On August 15, Independence Day celebrations will begin with the ceremonial hoisting of the National Tricolour, followed by an award ceremony.
