Sri Hargobindpur (Gurdaspur): Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal on Friday alleged that several AAP ministers were involved in corruption over the past four years and demanded a CBI probe to expose the alleged scams.Addressing a a ‘Punjab Bachao’ rally here, along with constituency halka in-charge Rajanbir Singh, Sukhbir said the recent case of former transport minister Laljit Bhullar was not isolated and that other AAP leaders were involved in similar acts, adding that only an independent CBI probe can expose their alleged scams and hold them accountable for amassing ill-gotten wealth. He sought a CBI inquiry into the death of Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, the district manager with the Punjab Warehousing Corporation (PWC), and the arrest of other accused, including former minister Laljit Bhullar’s father and aide. He said the probe must be initiated without further delay, as assured by Union home minister Amit Shah in Parliament.‘AAP clueless about wheat procurement’Speaking about the AAP govt’s alleged failure to make necessary arrangements for procuring the forthcoming wheat crop, Badal said the AAP govt was completely clueless about wheat procurement, which is scheduled to begin from April 1 — just three days from now.“The govt itself has admitted that it is short of 5 crore jute bags and 22 lakh metric tonnes of storage capacity needed to stock the forthcoming wheat crop. I want to ask chief minister Bhagwant Mann what he has been doing for the last two months, apart from indulging in cheap gimmicks and flying around in planes at the service of Arvind Kejriwal,” said Badal.Reiterating about his vision for the state, Badal said a medical and veterinary college would be established in each district of Punjab. He announced a World Skill University would be established which would skill one lakh youth every year and would have centres in each district. Badal said Rs 10 lakh interest-free loan would be offered to youth besides restarting an expanded Aata Dal scheme and raising old age pension to Rs 3,100 per month and Shagun allowance to Rs 1 lakh. He also announced that 75 per cent subsidy would be given to establish dairy and other livestock ventures.Among others, senior leaders Bikram Singh Majithia, Sucha Singh Langah, Lakhbir Singh Lodhinangal and Capt Balbir Singh Bath also addressed the gathering.
